    What is an administrative citation?

    Administrative Citations are just one of many tools for enforcing the City of San Dimas' Municipal Code. Like all enforcement tools, it is intended to maintain an attractive and thriving community. Administrative Citations are an alternative to criminal citation and do not appear on your driving record.

  • What types of violations can I be issued as an Administrative Citation?

    What types of violations can I be issued as an Administrative Citation?

    Any violation of the San Dimas Municipal Code, which includes zoning ordinances and building codes. Each day of violation constitutes a separate offense. Each RV is a separate offense.

  • What is the fine?

    What is the fine?

    The fine is $100 for first violation, $200 for second violation, and $500 for third violation and each additional violation thereafter.

    What happens if I do not pay the fine?

    The fine must be paid within 21 days. Unpaid fines are a misdemeanor for which the violator may be prosecuted. The fine is a debt to the City and subject to all remedies for debt collection, including, but not limited to, placing a lien against the property, placed in the regular tax rolls and collected through the Los Angeles County Auditor Controller's Office or recorded as an unsecured lien against the name of the violator and/or with the California Franchise Tax Board.

    Unlike a speeding ticket, Administrative Citations are not a notice to appear in court. You are only required to pay the fine.

    Can I contest an Administrative Citation?

    Any person to whom an Administrative Citation was issued has the right to file an appeal requesting a hearing before a hearing officer. The written appeal must be filed with the City Clerk, including a copy of the Citation. If you appeal is denied, then the cost of the hearing officer, plus 15%, will be added to the fine.
