For the last several months testing has been underway throughout Metrolink's service area on the New Tier 4 locomotives. Thanks to approvals received from the FRA, we are moving into the final testing days before putting them into service.
The new locomotives will reduce emissions by up to 85 percent while moving passengers more reliably.
Metrolink will be conducting brake testing of the Tier 4 locomotives on the San Bernardino Line between the Covina and Pomona (North) Stations this weekend. Testing is scheduled to run from Saturday, Oct. 7, 2017, until Sunday, Oct. 8, 2017, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Testing will include train braking distance. Depending on testing needs, approximately 8-round trips between the two stations should be expected.
We are hopeful that testing will be finalized this weekend, however, if that is not possible testing may also occur Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2017 and Wednesday Oct. 11, 2017 from 9:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m.
This schedule is subject to change. Metrolink will keep residents informed of any updates.
We apologize for any inconvenience this testing may cause. Questions and concerns can be directed to Metrolink's Community Relations hotline at 213-452-0400 or to firstname.lastname@example.org.
