The City of San Dimas Parks and Recreation Department invites all pre-kindergarten through eighth-grade girls to try-out for the City of San Dimas' very own competition dance team, the Shooting Stars. Shooting Star dancers will have the opportunity to participate and compete in a team-oriented environment. Shooting Star performers are involved in regional competitions, parades and city events.
Mandatory workshops are scheduled for Monday, May 14 at 5 pm and Wednesday, May 16 at 4:30 pm followed by the mandatory tryout at 5:30 pm that Wednesday. A parent meeting will be held on Monday, May 14, 6 pm.
Due to lack of RSVP's, this year's Trail Clean-Up project, scheduled for Saturday, April 28th has been canceled. The Equestrian Commission and the City will consider another project for next spring.
Community members are invited to attend the 42nd Annual Fine Art Exhibition and Sale hosted by the San Dimas Festival of Arts. The exhibit features paintings and sculptures in many mediums and styles, ranging from traditional to contemporary, with images showing the many dimensions of California life and history.
The exhibition will begin on Friday evening, April 27 with a Premier Opening Reception at 6 pm, reservations required, and will continue through Sunday afternoon, April 29 until 4 pm. The public is invited to view exhibiting artists at the Plein Air Event on Friday and Saturday in downtown San Dimas and surrounding areas. The Awards Dinner will be Saturday at 6 pm, reservations required. On Sunday, 2018 Featured Artist, April Raber will be giving a one-hour seminar. Other events will include a Student Art Exhibit and Competition for students within the Bonita School District throughout the weekend.
Viewing all the unique and original artwork is free of charge and open to the public from 9 am to 9 pm on Saturday, and 9 am to 4 pm on Sunday. The event will be held inside of the Stanley Plummer Community Building, located at 245 East Bonita Avenue. Celebrate Earth Day with us on April 22 from 9 am - 4 pm at the Civic Center. The City's Earth Day Celebrations will take place alongside the exciting CicLAvia open streets event. Visitors can create arts and crafts from recycled materials, win prizes by testing their knowledge on best practices and fun facts, and learn about resources and simple steps to make a difference every day in caring for our planet!

On Sunday, April 22 the cities of San Dimas, La Verne, Pomona, and Claremont will host a 6.5-mile CicLAvia open streets event from 9 am to 4 pm. The popular CicLAvia open streets events bring together thousands of participants of all ages to enjoy and rediscover their communities on car-free streets.
The event features family-friendly activities along the route including rock-climbing walls, kid's bike safety programs, music, and more. Bike helmets are required for everyone under 18 years old riding a bike.

The City will suspend the requirement for an overnight parking permit for the Easter holiday. The date range for the moratorium will be Saturday, March 31 - Sunday, April 8.
It is important to note that the City will resume the enforcement of the overnight parking restriction on Monday, April 9 at 2 am.
Temporary road closures for the SC Velo Bicycle Race this Saturday, March 24 - Sunday, March 25.
On Saturday the Puddingstone portion of the event will result in a partial closure of Puddingstone Drive, between Cannon Drive and Walnut Avenue from approximately 6 am - 5 pm.
The Old Town San Dimas stage race on Sunday will close portions of Bonita Avenue, San Dimas Avenue, First Street, Iglesia, and Walnut Avenue. Street closures will again be in effect from 6 am - 5 pm.
The City of San Dimas in partnership with the Watershed Conservation Authority want to inform residents of the start of the demolition of the three buildings on the City's property site.
The City is coordinating with the contractor, Interior Demolition, Inc. who will be responsible for the demolition of the three buildings on the City's portion of the project area. Construction trucks will be passing through the areas of Calle Bandera and Avenida Loma Vista.
Work is expected to last approximately six weeks.
