Personnel Division for the City of San Dimas is to attract and retain a highly talented and qualified workforce. Recruitment Process

The Personnel Division will only accept applications for positions when there is an actual opening. Personnel does not keep applications on file. As new openings occur, the City posts the job announcements on the website. All interested applicants must submit a completed City employment application.

It is important to make sure you read the job bulletin to determine if you meet the requirements for the position you are applying for. Some positions may require proof of certifications, specific testing and/or supplementary applications; if they are required it would be listed on the job bulletin. Make sure you read all of the instructions provided to you on the job application form before completing it; this will help you avoid submitting an incomplete application.

Applications must be received in the Personnel Department by the closing date/time shown on the job bulletin. Completed applications must be submitted by mail or in person. Faxes and emails are not accepted. Please note: Late applications will not be accepted. If you are mailing an application, please allow sufficient time for delivery. Postmarks are not accepted.

All eligible applications will be reviewed in detail. Among the qualified candidates, the top candidates possessing the most desired qualifications and experience will be asked to participate in the selection process. The selection process may include a combination of an oral interview and supplemental testing in the form of a writing sample, skills test, etc. as appropriate. The City personnel staff will notify all applicants in writing of their application status.

All applicants who meet the minimum qualifications are not guaranteed advancement through the selection process. City appointments are contingent upon successful completion of a records and reference check, as well as verification of United States citizenship or legal authorization to be employed.

The City of San Dimas is located midway (about 27 miles) between Los Angeles and San Bernardino, at the base of the San Gabriel Mountains. Superior access to freeways offers a centralized location from which to enjoy southern California's many excellent cultural and recreational activities.

San Dimas was incorporated in 1960 with a Council-Manager form of government. Our 38,000 citizens receive a full range of services through the combined efforts of the City's five departments (City Manager's Office, Administrative Services, Parks & Recreation, Public Works and Community Development) and the contract services of Los Angeles County.
