The City requires that any organization and/or person filming in the City of San Dimas obtain a filming permit from the City. Filming includes, but is not limited to, staging, shooting, filming videotaping, photographing for feature motion pictures, television, commercial and non-theatrical productions. Filming for the purposes of reporting on events or persons that are in the news for newspapers, television news and other news media is excluded.

The City of San Dimas Filming Permit was created in order to allow and assist filming of motions pictures, television productions and commercials in the City, while protecting the safety, property and convenience of the City's residents, businesses and visitors. A valid city business license and film permit must be obtained before any filming activity can commence.
