Denis Bertone was elected to the City Council in 1988 and re-elected in 1992, 1997, 2001, 2005, and 2009.  Denis Bertone represents the City Council on the City's Senior Citizens Commission. He also serves on the Board of Directors for the San Gabriel Valley Council of Governments, an association of cities working together to influence policy decisions affecting cities. Denis Bertone is also the City's delegate to the Southern California Association of Governments, the metropolitan planning organization for Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, Imperial and Ventura counties. Denis Bertone was appointed by the California State Senate to the Rivers and Mountains State Conservancy which works to preserve urban open spaces and habitat in Los Angeles and Orange Counties.

Denis was a High School Counselor for 38 years before his retirement. Besides his City Council duties, he also serves on the Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. Denis and his wife Diana have lived in San Dimas for 35 years.
