The Development Services Department includes four functions: planning, engineering, building & safety and code enforcement. The Planning Division is responsible for long-term planning of the community, development review, subdivision review, environmental review. The City Engineer provides civil engineering services for the community, such as reviewing proposed construction, drainage, and setting standards for infrastructure (e.g., streets and storm drains). The Building & Safety Division is responsible for administering and enforcing the Uniform Building Codes and the construction section of the San Dimas Municipal Code to ensure minimum standards to protect life and property. The goal of the City's Code Compliance program is to promote and maintain a quality living environment for residents. City Codes are developed to promote the health, safety, and welfare of the public.
