The San Dimas Planning Division is responsible for administering the City's development process and developing planning strategies for the future of San Dimas. Planners prepare and monitor the City's General Plan and process applications for development projects.
The department performs current planning, advance planning and code compliance services. The Planning Division acts as Staff to the Planning Commission and the Development Plan Review Board (DPRB). The City Council also utilizes the Planning Department to provide zoning, land use and urban design analysis.

Planners provide information and assistance to the public regarding the zoning code and the San Dimas General Plan. To help citizens to better understand the City's planning process, the Department has published a series of informational brochures that generally address City processes.
