Special Events

The Special Events offered by the Parks and Recreation Department are part of the reason that San Dimas is so special. The Department sponsors annual events that bring together young and old for fun and community building

Events Throughout the Year:

Parent and Child Events

Each spring and summer the Department host a special evening for parents and their children. In spring it's the Mother and Son magic show. And in summer the night belongs to the dads and the daughters with a pizza dinner, movie and fun filled evening.

Fitness Festival

Featuring 5K Run, 1 Mile Family Fun Run, 3.5 Mile Guided Family Fun Ride and Family Fitness Fair.

Over 300 runners gather each year on the last Saturday of September to journey down the streets of San Dimas. Runners get a quality race t-shirt and community families can stop by for fitness information and fun at the Family Fitness Fair. A Healthy Breakfast is provided to all.

Halloween Spectacular

Every Halloween the entire family is invited to a spooky and safe night of fun when the San Dimas Parks and Recreation Department host the Annual Halloween Spectacular on October 31, at the San Dimas Civic Center from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The event includes game booths, costume contests, bouncers, food trucks, the Haunted Hall, and more. The Haunted Hall is hosted by the Teen Action Committee in the Community Building for ages 5 and up.

The costume contest's schedule is as follows:
* Ages 3 years and under at 6:15 p.m.
* Ages 4-6 at 6:30 p.m.
* Ages 7-9 at 6:45 p.m.
* Ages 10-14 at 7:00 p.m.
* Ages 15 and up at 7:15 p.m.
* Family Category at 7:30 p.m.

Bowser Bash

For a howling good time, dogs and their buddies are invited to the Bowser Bash. Activities include doggie service vendors, pet and people treats, demonstrations, raffles, costume parade, and competitions. Dress your pet in their favorite costume and join the fun. Most activities will be free with lots of giveaways and prizes by pet care professionals. ADMISSION AND PARKING ARE FREE!!

Downtown Holiday Extravaganza!!

Come and grab a cup of hot chocolate or cider and some yummy cookies at Candyland Sweet Treats. Then enjoy holiday music and entertainment. Make angels in the snow and slide down our snow slide.  You can shop for the perfect gift at our new holiday Marketplace.  Hop on our Holiday Hayride through the historic downtown.  And, that jolly fellow in the red suit is expected to make an appearance! You can take a photo with Santa. To wrap it all up join us for the San Dimas Holiday Tree Lighting.

Family Festival

Spring time brings Family Festival to Civic Center Park. Join us for environmental awareness information at our Green Scene; come browse our Arts and Craft expo; get helpful information from our Community Connections Information Fair and the Safety Fair; the Critter Corner gives you the latest on pet related issues; there are plenty of snacks at our Food Court; the Fun Zone will give the kids a chance to use all that energy. A great event for the while family!

Movies in the Park

This event begins and ends our Music in the Park concert series each summer. Kick back and relax during a cool summer evening and enjoy movies on our giant outdoor screen. Free to everyone and a great way to enjoy your summer.
