There are three air-conditioned locations in San Dimas where residents can get relief from the heat in the event of an Excessive Heat Advisory.
The San Dimas Senior/Community Center is open Monday – Friday, from 8 am to 5 pm; the Center is located at 201 E. Bonita Avenue.
The San Dimas Recreation Center provides after-hours heat relief, Monday – Thursday until 10 pm, Fridays until 8 pm and weekends from 7 am – 5 pm. The Recreation Center is located at 990 W. Covina Avenue.
Residents are welcome to enjoy the air conditioning at the San Dimas Library when the library is open. The library is located at 145 N. Walnut Avenue and is open to everyone as long as they meet the customer expectations http://lacountylibrary.org/aboutus/expectations.php.
The Library hours are:
Monday and Tuesday: 11 am- 8 pm
Wednesday and Thursday: 10 am – 6 pm
Friday and Saturday: 9 am- 5 pm
Residents are strongly encouraged to help prevent heat-related illnesses or emergencies by checking on people who might be vulnerable during periods of extreme heat and, if needed, offering to get them to an air-conditioned location.
