Back on April 26, 2016, the City Council approved Resolution 2016-19 adopting the Mitigated Negative Declaration for the Walnut Creek project and setting standards and procedures for consideration on the current funded phase (Phase 1) and any future phases of this project. The current funded west phase of the project included: Demolition of the buildings located in the city-owned portion of the project area; Landscaping; Trail Improvements; Gating and Fencing.
Demolition took place from March 2018 to May 2018. The City went out for Request for Proposal for a Landscape Design Consultant in November 2018 and awarded the contract in December 2018. The consultant gave the notice to proceed in January 2019 with expected completion by the end of March 2019. The City went out to bid for the Trail Improvement in the fall 2018 and issued the notice to proceed in February 2019 with expected completion approximately 6 to 8 weeks from the start date of February 25, 2019. The weather will drive the progress for both the trail improvements and landscape planting. The City expects planting will take place in the fall of 2019. The completion date for Phase 1 is anticipated for the end of 2019 or early 2020.
